Festive opening of the sailing season at the Botterstichting Elburg

On Saturday April 6, 2024, the Elburger Botterstichting will open its doors wide. Both from the warehouse, the training company and the museum! Young and old, botter connoisseur and newcomer: everyone is welcome and admission is free. Discover the special world of historic sailing monuments and the Zuiderzee fishery of yesteryear! The working group puts together a varied program, with an extra seasonal exhibition, demonstrations of old crafts and a visit to the restoration of the EB25 and the Botter Museum. A flounder will also be pulled out of the water on the slope around 11 a.m., after which maintenance will begin. Old engines are being worked on, the block maker is busy, the sails are being applied on a boat outside, you can watch the painting (the Prince's work), the sail makers are also working on repairs and you can find out everything about the ancient fishing methods. There is also a stall where maps are painted with a boat at sea. You can also take a boat trip to experience what it is like to sail on a wooden flat-bottomed boat.
